Most would ask, what the heck is Burning Man? My first suggestion to you would be to go to their website www.burningman.com This will explain a lot but it is definitely hard to understand unless you have been there.
I am probably the last person you would expect to go to an event of this type since I am a little on the prissy side. My brothers have been going for years and they company they work for sponsors the all the medical at the event. Three years ago my brother Todd convinced me to go and I was so glad I did. I love costumes and dressing up and this event felt like Halloween every day but with much more creative and artistic costumes. Most people would agree that it is somewhat known for drugs, hippies and naked people. It definitely has all three but my take on the event is you get what you WANT to get out of it. In other words, if you are looking for it, you will find it. Burning Man is the freedom of self-expression without the judgments of the "normal" world. Put it on your bucket list and you won't regret it.

You are not allowed to drive a vehicle at the event unless it is an "art car." Everyone rides bikes or scooters. You are not allowed to buy or sell anything, it is considered a giving community where people actually share. Pictured below is our art car that our camp has worked on the past 2 years. It is a yellow short bus turned into a submarine.

Kate and Jordan's Wedding 9/13/10
The event was held in Laguna Beach, CA at the Pacific Edge Villa. The villa is a gorgeous 3 story home right on the beach with breathtaking views of the ocean and California coastline. Kate was more beautiful than ever and Rachel and I were so grateful to be a part of the event. As all the bridesmaids and bride were getting ready the photographer was there snapping photos to be remembered. One thing I won't forget and Kate probably won't either was the shot of the photographer watching her bridesmaid put on her shoes. Well, that bridesmaid was me and under all the fabric and netting of the dress I could barely see Kate's little feet. I ended up trying to put her shoe on the WRONG foot. It was definitely a humorous moment we won't forget and hopefully they are some good photos of the shoes on the right feet for her album.

Attack of the Raccoons
Once winter was over and the seasons had changed Dan and I started to notice some strange noises outside our house. I figured it was a bear because I thought I heard something big climbing up the tree. It turned out to be raccoons, 3 of them to be exact. We would watch them from our balcony window and try to snap photos while also trying to keep them out of the house. Dan would always want to feed them but I refused to let him for fear that they would be coming back every night. Since we were moving away from Tahoe in a week this night I let him feed them. It was goldfish crackers to be exact and the raccoons loved them. Not only were there 3 raccoons like we have previously thought, there were 7. Dan and I sat there and watched them play for about an hour, fighting over the food, trying to get into my backpack and also putting their noses and arms against our glass door to check us out.

Errick and Jill's WeddingThe time had come, one of the Kerfoot's was finally getting married. I'm the baby of the family but my twin brothers are 37 years old and people were starting to wonder if any of us were ever going to get hitched. Thankfully we all waited this long because I have now found my soul mate and my brother Errick has now married his. I have the best sister in law you could ask for and even better than that is she makes him happier than I have ever seen him. Errick and Jill's wedding was one for the record books. This wedding week was a long one for both Dan and I since we found out only a few weeks earlier that we were going to be moving from Lake Tahoe to San Diego the same week as the wedding. This worked out perfectly since my brother was actually getting married in San Diego but made for some long and exhausting days.
The day before the wedding all the girls went out to the Bardin's house on Coronado Island for a spa day. We had a mobile spa come to us and pamper us all morning. The day of the wedding was a busy one with girls getting ready and the men out at Coronado Island house relaxing. It was a gloomy day and as it got closer to the wedding time it started raining. This could have been a nightmare and was definitely stressful since all of the activities were planned outside. Luckily the rain subsided after the ceremony and for the rest of the night we were rain-free. Errick and Jill had Brazilian BBQ as their food and it was so delicious. My cousins Jason and Ty were having a meat eating contest at our table since the meat was unlimited. My favorite part was the pineapple with cinnamon sprinkled on it. There was a photobooth which you will see in the photos below we had a fabulous time. Afterward they had a food truck pull up which served sliders, tater tots, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, quesadillas and much more. You couldn't have asked for a better day, night, wedding and so forth. I finally have a sister!
