Errick and Jill's Engagement
Saturday was the biggest day of my brother's life thus far. He finally proposed to his girlfriend Jill and our family couldn't be happier. Most would say, "why doesn't Errick ever smile in pictures?" Well with Jill, all of that changed. I have never seen him so happy and I couldn't ask for a better sister in law.
Saturday night about 40 friends and family members got together to celebrate Errick and Jill's engagement. This was a surprise for Jill that Errick had been planning for quite some time. We had such a fun time and here are some pictures for the evening.
Field Trip to Virginia City
Last Thursday Dan and I decided to take a trip out to Virginia City. I had heard of the place before but we both had never been. We are trying to make the most out of living in a small city and a client of mine who lives there suggested we visit.
Virginia City is a really small old western town in the mountains where most everything looks like the way it was back in the early 1900's. We walked around town and visited the Delta Saloon which has the famous "suicide table." We went to "The way it was" Museum which has tons of antiques and artifacts from the olden days. Our last stop was to take our picture in old Western wear. My cousin Nicole and friends did the same thing about a week ago and it was too funny, so Dan and I decided we would take one as well. On the way home we saw several wild mustangs running in the road. We stopped to watch them and took a few pictures, which was probably the most exciting part of our day.

The biggest little city in the world
Surely I need to get on this blogging site more often. I keep meaning to write then I get busy or lazy and forget half of the stuff I originally wanted to write about. The internet has been down at my house for the last couple of days and still is. That is what I get for moving to a rural area of town. I'm writing from work so I will have to keep it short and without pictures unfortunately. Here are some of my lastest encounters with the Reno peeps.
Met a pit boss named FREACE, her clever mom put Freedom and Peace together. I mentioned to her that thankfully she didn't decide to call you Peadom. I know cheesy joke, but I have to entertain myself here. A lovely grocery store worker with about 10 teeth TOTAL, told me that her social worker was not her "type." She wouldn't do him, not even once. By the way, she has a mullet too. Arnie our drunk elderly customer, was sitting at my coworker John's desk when he urinated in the chair he was sitting in. So thankful he was not sitting at my desk. We called my work's corporate properties to come replace our chair and they have yet to do so. So, I put a giant yellow sign on the chair to warn others of the urine soaked fabric. Apparently, they are too cheap to replace this chair and instead they are sending someone to clean it. GROSS!! Today a girl came in with a "775" tattoo, which is the area code here. For all you So-Cal people it's the equivalent of a "909" tattoo x10.
On Thursday Dan and I went to Virginia City, which is an old western town. We had fun seeing the way things used to be and taking photos in old western wear. It's crazy to think that people still live in places like that. I have some pictures I will post once the internet is back up. I have many updates so I will try to do so soon.

The Chain Gang
For the love of chains...
So, as I said before my amazing parents bought me a 4wd car so I wouldn't have to deal with chains in the snow. Dan, on the other hand, is not so lucky. He is currently driving my other Jeep "Princess" a 2wd car. This car definitely needed chains for the snow and so the adventure began. I bought the first set of chains up in Tahoe. I had all the specs from my tires including a picture and the 3 Kragen employees insisted the chains I bought were the right ones. Well guess what, they were wrong, way too big for the tires. So operation find the right chains began. This time I had my brother Todd and Dan's help so I was assured to get the right ones. Last pair in the store and they fit perfect. Of course, this wouldn't be the last trip we took to Kragen since it's so much fun to be around dirty smelly men. On the new chains we bought, a piece broke off before we even used them. Since chains are supposed to be non-refundable, we knew this would be fun. After hours of waiting around listening to the manager talk about his girlfriend dumping him last night blah blah blah, we finally got a new pair. Let's see how long these will last us. On a side note, I think I might be getting used to the cold.....or maybe my body is just numb.

Officially a Nevadan
Yesterday was a busy day for me, officially becoming a Nevada resident. I really didn't want to give up my California driver's license but I found out that I my insurance company and new registration would require me to do so. First stop was the social security office to get a new card since I seem to have lost mine. It was such a quick process, not anything like California. Next stop, the dreaded DMV. I have heard that Nevada is also nothing like California and its true, the whole process took about 30-40 minutes. My brother Todd decided to tag along with me the whole day, which made things so much more interesting. We took pictures of the license plate options in Nevada which were hilarious.
Everyone was really sweet and efficient who worked there. For the 40th time since I have moved I was asked, "why would you leave Newport Beach?" I know people... it's a little thing called LOVE!
The first and one of my many gripes of the day, was the requirement to take your license picture with you hair behind your ears. Really?! We don't all want to look like dumbo here.
I quickly got over that and just as were are pulling into the driveway I get a phone call. Guess who?! It was the Nevada DMV telling me they forgot to put my glasses restriction on my license and they wanted me to come back. Well, I wasn't about to drive into town again since it is about 20 minutes away. Of course now I have to go back next week on my day off and go through the whole process all over again. Oh yeah and pay an additional 3 dollars since they screwed up. Gotta love bureaucracy!
On the bright side, Dan and I had a fabulous New Year's Eve alone at home. Neither of us were feeling up to going out so we had drinks at home and sang karaoke for about 2 hours straight. It was hilarious! Thankfully no one was home and the neighbors couldn't hear us, at least for their sake I hope they couldn't.
Well, Happy New Year everyone, it looks like there is a big storm coming which of course means more snow for me to drive in. BOO!
