Yesterday was a busy day for me, officially becoming a Nevada resident. I really didn't want to give up my California driver's license but I found out that I my insurance company and new registration would require me to do so. First stop was the social security office to get a new card since I seem to have lost mine. It was such a quick process, not anything like California. Next stop, the dreaded DMV. I have heard that Nevada is also nothing like California and its true, the whole process took about 30-40 minutes. My brother Todd decided to tag along with me the whole day, which made things so much more interesting. We took pictures of the license plate options in Nevada which were hilarious.
Everyone was really sweet and efficient who worked there. For the 40th time since I have moved I was asked, "why would you leave Newport Beach?" I know people... it's a little thing called LOVE!
The first and one of my many gripes of the day, was the requirement to take your license picture with you hair behind your ears. Really?! We don't all want to look like dumbo here.
I quickly got over that and just as were are pulling into the driveway I get a phone call. Guess who?! It was the Nevada DMV telling me they forgot to put my glasses restriction on my license and they wanted me to come back. Well, I wasn't about to drive into town again since it is about 20 minutes away. Of course now I have to go back next week on my day off and go through the whole process all over again. Oh yeah and pay an additional 3 dollars since they screwed up. Gotta love bureaucracy!
On the bright side, Dan and I had a fabulous New Year's Eve alone at home. Neither of us were feeling up to going out so we had drinks at home and sang karaoke for about 2 hours straight. It was hilarious! Thankfully no one was home and the neighbors couldn't hear us, at least for their sake I hope they couldn't.
Well, Happy New Year everyone, it looks like there is a big storm coming which of course means more snow for me to drive in. BOO!
